The laser scanner works by shining a laser at the object that needs to be 3D-scanned. The surface of the object reflects the laser light. The 3D scanner records this reflection, and it is, therefore, possible to determine the location of a point in space.
Laser scanners are very mobile measuring devicesand are particularly suitable for 3D-scanning buildings.
Every 3D scanning and reverse engineering technique has its strengths. We analyze your project requirements and consult you on what technique will yield the best results.
A kind of hybrid system. A laser probe is used to 3D-scan at close range (accuracy ±0.1 mm), while the laser tracker maintains permanent contact and ensures accuracy over distance (up to 100m).
The 360° laserscanner is used primarily on construction sites or for the inside of buildings. The laser scanner stands on a tripod and 3D-scans everything around it (360°).
Inside the 360° laser scanner, a rotating mirror redirects a laser beam in all directions. The laser is reflected off the object’s surfaces around the scanner. The laser scanner detects the reflection, and thus, a point in 3D-space can be determined.
The 360° laser scanner weighs only a few kilograms and can be easily transported and set up. After each 3D scan, the position of the scanner is changed. In a single day, up to one hundred 3D scans are created, which are later merged using software.

What else you need to know about
the Different Laser Scanner
Mobility and relatively high accuracy. Depending on the distance to the object that needs to be 3D-scanned, accuracy of between ±0.1 mm to ±1 mm isachieved.
Light weight. The scanner often weighs only a few kilograms and can easily be transported in a suitcase and set up on-site.
No calibration is required. The laser scanner achieves good accuracy even under poor lighting conditions.
The disadvantage of laser scanners is that they can only 3D-scan what lies within their direct field of view.
There is a "shadow" behind objects where the 3D data is missing.
The position of the laser scanner must, therefore, be constantly changed.
Scan large objects with high accuracy
Laser scanners are ideal for scanning large objects with high accuracy. They are very mobile devices. The data from laser scanners are often merged with 3D data generated by photogrammetry. For example, aerial photographs can be used to photogrammetrically 3D-scan a building from the outside and then the laser scanner is used for 3D-scanning indoors.
